Weekly series quests after the answers to questions of faith; makes national network debut June 9 Why are we here? Does God exist? What happens when we die? Every one of us is looking for the answers to these questions. In his weekly talk series The Search, veteran Canadian broadcaster Rafe Mair invites viewers to join him as he embarks on his own quest for spiritual enlightenment. The Search with Rafe Mair makes its national network debut Tuesday nights, starting June 9, at 10:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. PT on VisionTV. Produced in British Columbia, the half-hour program premiered earlier this season on the local Joytv stations in Vancouver and Winnipeg. The Search with Rafe Mair takes a challenging look at what different religious traditions have to say about the purpose of life, the nature of God and our journey in the afterlife. Mair’s guests range from devout believers of all faiths to hardened atheists. Says Mair: “I’m not for counting the number of fairies that can dance on the head of a pin. I’m simply looking for a set of beliefs, which includes a supreme being: a code that is simple to understand – though not simple to abide by.” Rafe Mair is a former lawyer and B.C. cabinet minister. In 1981, he retired from politics and became one of Canada’s most beloved – and most provocative – talk radio personalities. Mair was awarded the Governor General’s prestigious Michener Award in 1995 for “courageous journalism,” and was inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005. His best-selling books include Rants, Raves and Recollections, Canada: Is Anyone Listening? And Rafe: A Memoir. For more information on VisionTV programming, please visit www.visiontv.ca. |
