VisionTV searches for the truth behind the mystery, starting March 22

One man’s death changed the course of human history.

According to the Gospels, Jesus of Nazareth was arrested, tried and executed in Jerusalem for sedition against the Roman Empire. Three days later, Scripture says, he was resurrected and appeared to his disciples before ascending, finally, to heaven. This simple yet powerful story is the foundation stone of Christianity.

Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God, that his death upon the cross was atonement for the sins of humankind, and that his resurrection was a token of God’s forgiveness for all people. Each year, at Easter time, more than 1.5 billion Christian faithful around the world commemorate these events.

But how much do we know of what really happened in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago? Did events unfold as described in the New Testament? Was Jesus laid to rest only to rise from the dead? Could archaeology, contemporary scholarship and advanced science help to reveal, once and for all, the true story?

Beginning on March 22, Canada’s multi-faith network VisionTV will mark the Easter season with two weeks of special programming that investigates the mystery and meaning of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
